Hey everyone, i'm looking to purchase a new MP3 player soon so logically i hit the Ebay auctions to look around and scope out some prices and there seem to be some great deals on 20GB iriver H10s (which im looking to get). Anyway i've noticed allot of the players on there are " manufacturer refurbished" ...is that code for cheap pos? just curious if anyone has had experience with a "manufacturer refurbished" product and if they're bad news or reliable.. thanks!

When you buy something and you are unhappy with it etc, and you take it backto Best Buys, sears etc etc, they send it back to the manufacturer.
The manufacturer tests this device, and performs calibrations or replaces parts as needed.
The device undergoes a final inspection, and is repackaged with the peripherals.
This does not mean that the product is, or every was, defective. In a sense, you have a bit more of a garauntee that your product will work, as it was re inspected etc.
You may not get all the software that would come with a product, such as an ATI video card, and you will not have the same warrenty.
.
My brother bought a boombox that was magnufacturer refurbished and it didnt work so he sent it back to the store and got a new one. My other brother got one 2 but never had a problem with it. I got a motherboard once and it still works. Its really hit or miss.
Anyone upset or offended by my post please follow the link and let your opinions be known.

Refurbished stuff is good as new in many cases.. If they cant fix the problem, it goes to scrap it. Mostly you cant sell any eletronics that has already been opened unless its been tested and marked refurbished.
I bought one of those refurbished h10 20gb. Had it for 6 months now and not a problem with it. Here is the seller i got it from outletmp3. He even undervalued the item so i didnt have to pay import duty.

Whenever I buy a new Dell, I always purchase it from their refurbished outlet site. You save some cash, and the stuff you get is pretty much new. Even has that new plastic smell....love it!
hey awesome! thanks for all the input guys :) ...can always count on zp

I bought a refurbished mp3 player awhile back and it died atfer a litte over a month (got it off ebay) rio told me it would cost like 100 bucks to fix it so it was basically a big loss. Just my experience, probably just my shitty luck.
I just got a refurbished soundcard and 64MB video card last week. And the last Seagate drive I returned for warranty was replaced by a refurbished drive. I sent them a 160GB and with a little snakeoil and bullshit I got them to give me a 250GB,so I wasn't complaining.
I don't need no stinking signature
