Verso Technologies, a leading provider of packet-based solutions, will likely ink an agreement with Chinese telecom operators to help them prevent Chinese Internet users from using eBay's Skype VoIP software.  At the moment, a Chinese telecom carrier has started a paid trial of Verso's NetSpective M-Class filter, which was designed to block VoIP calls through Skype, as well as other peer-to-peer applications.

Moreover, if the trial operation goes well in China, the operator will buy the product before the end of the year, in the light of a report by IDG. In September, Shenzhen Telecom, a local unit of China's biggest fixed-line carrier China Telecom, blocked SkypeOut calls. The Chinese-language version of the Skype software is currently provided by the partner Tom Online, and only calls between PCs are permitted.
