Try Photoimpact by Ulead. That's the one I use for everything with my websites. It has lots of photo retouching settings in it, and it can do morphing and cloning and other things to change pictures with, photomanipulation. Photoimpact can also do text objects, so you can have it make title graphics for a web page you might have.

I have Irfanview as a viewer, it's way better than the one that Windows has.

Microangelo makes icons for your computer and for your website, ones that show up in the address bar of the browser.

I use jpg for photographic images with many colors, and gif for graphics with text on them, because gif keeps the text looking sharp and clean.

If you're looking for an open-source and cross platform photo editing app, there's always The GIMP. I've played around with it, and, unless you're doing really serious photo editing, I'd say that's it on par with Photoshop.

As for learning about it, well, just play around a lot :)

Top choices, the gimp, paint shop pro 10, photoshop. The gimp has less features as the other but is free open source. It also has less features so it may confuse you less if your just trying to learn. Paint shop pro 10 and photoshop cs are about the same. Theres a few differances but for a beginner you wouldnt notice them. So just play around with it its the best way to learn.

I always let everyone else post in these sort of threads, then mop up

You remember that little thead I helped build, the one cpu started . . . the Sexy Spam?

How do you think I rapidly posted all those pics and modified a lot of everyone elses for them, on the fly?

If you want to resize, crop, and adjust very well, use ACDSee, get an older version of you can find it, like v5

    you'll be hella happy

Photoshop has a lot of plugins, but it's a HOG

Paint Shop Pro is hard to use at first but once you get started its kind of addicting you want to keep making more cool stuff and trying different filters for different effects, you can sort through photographs and resize them
