I used to use 2.6, and when I set up 3.3 I noticed that there were two networks (WinMX and OpenNap). Does the WinMX network need to have server updates the way 2.6 did? How do you update the OpenNap servers in 3.3 or do they update automatically? Can both be networks be run at the same time..and any other advice for a newbie who is setting up 3.3 for the first time.
you don't have to do anything to the WinMX Network.Originally posted by Jason99529

You can install & update OpenNap Servers with a program called MXNapper, sorry I don't have the link.
Yes, you can run both Networks at the sametime.
When you connect to WinMX, you're connected through it's own decentralized Peer-to-Peer Network. And if you want to gain more results & connect to more users, you can also connect to the OpenNap servers separately, but is less efficient because it does not support "multi-source" downloading & are usually full and overcrowded. The best place for WinMX newbies like you is here. To get the severs list for OpenNap is here or here. And both networks can be run at the same time. Hope this helps!
Thank you. I did try MXNapper but when I click refresh to download the servers I get 0 servers, I followed the directions to the letter. Any ideas?
You still click on Add Servers, refresh just refreshes the list, it doesn't add them.Originally posted by Jason99529
