FireTune for Mozilla Firefox was developed for an easy and fast optimization of your browsing experience with Firefox. It is based on a collection of optimization settings collected and tested by Tweakfactor. Usually you have to optimize Firefox manually, which can be time consuming and difficult for the novice user. FireTune helps you here - it includes all the performance optimizations. The only thing you must do is: make your selection. FireTune does the work for you.
How to tell whether Firefox is faster after optimizing it:
• Clear the cache of Firefox from the Firefox settings dialog - this is very important!
• Before you optimize Firefox, navigate to www.numion.com/stopwatch/ and do a speed test on www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
• The time needed to load the site completely will be displayed to you in the browser window. Write down the time
• Clear the cache of Firefox from the Firefox settings dialog again - this is very important!
• Now, close Firefox, and optimize it with FireTune
• Start Firefox again, and repeat the speed test on www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
• Compare the displayed result with the result from the test before the optimization

Bloody hell, this works great. Took 4 seconds of the load time for the zeropaid home page.
This is not bad, i tried it a while back but wht really gave me the edge (after some custom settings) is an add on/extension called FasterFox. :icon_sant
The problem with fasterfox is that it is a prefetcher.Originally Posted by waqasr

Be very careful when using fasterfox cos you are downloading stuff into your cache whether you want to or not.
I am using it, and have not noticed any problems as of yet. Now I also know it can be a bit obnoxious to sites as to how it hits them, so being carefull with the settings is a must.
zarquon I understand your concern, and have you had any problems with this, or heard of any reliable reports of these problems? Im not doubting you, as I understand what you mean, and Im wondering how likely the problems are?

Thanks, Auggie. This is nice. I didn't measure the speed, but it's noticably faster.
For me the main concern is what is being prefetched. In this type of community, p2p, often times we will be browsing themed sites which often contain links to adult material. If you are in a lan environment where you are being administered it is probably the case that you do not want dodgy stuff to be found in your cache.Originally Posted by The Hunter
Also opening more connections just floods the web servers you connect to creating more load and slowing it down.
For those with a capped bandwitdh service they may find they breach there cap if they are excessively browsing.
Lets not also negate the fact that if you are not using adblock you will be linking to every google ad on the page.
For those with a fast connection there really is litlle point in using fasterfox over firetune as the .5 second difference in page opening is really not woth it considering the cons of using it.
You mean 1.07 and for me i find 1.07 to be more stable than 1.5Originally Posted by pimpinaman
Thanks, for the reply, and as Im not well versed I like to ask questions. I never even considered about problems for those that are capped, and that will make me consider my replies to problems a bit longer. Cheers, and thanks.

Ok, I did install the optimizer, and dumped fasterfox, and it is much faster. Very much so even to my eyes.

For those on high speed connections who dont like to mess around with the about:config panel firetune is all you need. It works very well.Originally Posted by The Hunter
In the latest fasterfox you can enable or disable prefetching...Originally Posted by zarquon
