If there was no changes on your system before this happened, perhaps it's time to get a new one. It's not that expensive these days!

Is the driver for your drive loaded properly? Do you have an error inside the device manager? Try powering off your computer, and opening the chasis (if you don't know what ur doing, find someone who does). See if all IDE and power connections are properly in place. Have you added any drives? If so, you probably need to adjust jumpers.

Also, I doubt you need a whole new system just to replace/troubleshoot a single peripheral not working. The solution is usually the most obvious. Remember to have patience, as you will be rewarded for it.

Also, are you using XP? 2K? 9x? please specify.

Before you go routing through cables, two simple questions - whats your music source and what type are these music files?

Set the burning speed at a lower rate that MAX, about 8X, or 4X.

Are you sure the files play and are accessible?

Are they on a removable hard drive that may be off but the files indexed?

Is the Windows XP Recording enabled in the CD Drive properties?

My computer > X drive properties (where X is your current CD burner) > Recording

What is the error message you get when this happens? If you tell us it might solve this problem!

Seems like one of the tracks is causing the error. Try removing the first track or replacing the entire playlist with some olders ones for instance.
