Hello,
As a fairly new Azureus user I've spent some time on these forums trying to troubleshoot my setup. I thought I finally had everything finally in place, and for a while, things were well. Unfortunately, now I've run into a stumbling block. I fixed my NAT error using the FAQ on this forum. Recently, though, when starting up Azureus, a error appears saying something about failing to connect a listen port.
Unfortunately, the message no longer comes up (for whatever reason). Now, I'm capable of letting people upload, but when I try to download, I'm unable to connect to peers (get the red, unhappy face). It doesn't seem to matter what torrent it is I go after... it just won't work. Does anybody know what's going on, and hopefully, how to fix it?
Thanks for any help in advance.
Well, first, make sure that any firewalls (software and hardware) are all configured to let traffic through. I know that at least for eMule and aMule, I had to configure my router to put my computer's IP into DMZ (meaning there's no firewall running between my computer and the internet) to get UDP working correctly. Also, if you're using a software firewall, make sure it's correctly configure to also let the java run time through, not just Azureus (assuming, of course, that it tries configuring the two separately).
Otherwise, it could possibly be an issue with your ISP - do you have problems with any other p2p programs? Also, even with a firewall and without port forwarding, you still should be able to connect to a tracker (and at least get the yellow face), especially if you can still upload. Otherwise, try another bittorrent client - if that one works, it could just be an issue with Azureus not being configured correctly.
