Hi,
I plugged my iPod into my G5 this morning, the"do not disconnect" symbol came up on the screen and then… nothing happened.
iTunes usually loads, but didn't. I loaded iTunes and there was no iPod icon.
The iPod didn't mount to the desktop either.
I loaded iPod Updater and it said "Please plug in an iPod to update".
I tried using USB and Firewire. Neither worked.
The "do not disconnect" sign was still flashing away on the screen, but I counted dismount the iPod. After trying everything I had to just disconnect it. And now the sign is still flashing away on the screen.
I have tried resetting it and this doesn't work either.
Please can someone help. I've tried EVERYTHING!
Thanks in advance
Steve
use the "safely remove hardware" icon in your toolbar, bottom right, see if that works.
At least i still have my ladies.

If that doesnt work try to reset you iPod while its still connected to the G5 and then disconnect the iPod.

On the PC MONITOR it may show A IPOD ICON or to safely remove it by double clicking it, if its not there. THen something is seriously wrong.
Contact apple but on the other hand this is what happens when people buy over priced electroinics
Theres just something about this thread that cracks me up
I dunno if its the age old snubbery by MAC users about Windows locking up, or the safely remove dialogue
.
...or people telling a mac user to look at their "pc monitor" and "look in the bottom right at the toolbar"
Rest in peace mother

You will always be with me.
Well I got so p***ed off with PCs, having used them from Windows 3.11 through to XP, and constantly having problems, that I move to OS X. Best move I ever made. Never have a problem with macs, just damn iPod's!
just dont buy another ipod then. plenty of other alternatives out there. :-s

It doesn't work on a PC either…

Yeah, its still under warranty and I have the receipt, just couldn't be bothered going back to the shop…
Thought I'd try fixin' it first.
I reckon I could take the battery out, leave it for a while and plug it back in… but it could be too much hassle.
