Does Tiger OS require a key?

I don't use MAC's, but my buddy has a Ibook G3 or G4. I loaded Tiger OS over his existing OS and it did not ask for a CD key.

My question is: Does Tiger OS require a CD Key? Like Windows for PC's do?

There's no protection, it will even let you copy the install DVD with the built in disk utility.

No, most user grade versions of OS X (Anyting but Server) doesn't require an actuall install Key. They stress this when they say how bad Microsoft "Activation" is.
