I love the way peerguardian flags Bitlord up as "Worst Bittorrent Client. Ever!" Although I never had any problems with it.

The "xxx chat" toolbar is a bit annoying, and the interface clumsy so eventually I switched to Azureus, which is feature-rich but is a bit of a RAM hog IMO.

For this guy I'd say Azureus because its user interface is straight forward and identifies many problems right off the bat namely NAT and Firewall issues which besides his limited vocabulary is probably the main issue he's experiencing.

Obviously bittorent or ABC didn’t work so the next best thing Azureus

The only thing about Azureus is that you'll have to have a system that can handle JAVA programs well...and yes it's interface may be user friendly, it does have a lot of tweaking options that can confuse newcomers of BitTorrent.

Don't know how the Official BT client can mess up like that (pretty straight forward program)...if you want a similar basic interface then try BitTornado: www.bittornado.com

If you want to get the full potential of BitTorrent downloads, then use Azureus and get that JAVA ;)
