I was talking to the game store clerk and. I asked him what the price of ps3 and xbox360 w would be he said ps3 will be $700 do to it uses bluetooth. He said the xbox360 will cost $400. i said why so much difference. He said well xbox is going to use wifi which is better for gaming. bluetooth is better for communication. I told him well i guess ps3 will go down the drain. He said looks like it its the third generation of ps3 so it has a chance it will fail. he said heres and example sega dreamcast. Its the thrid generation curse he said and xbox is cheaper.
id rather go with the xbox360 wif you want more for gaming. I said oh ok well g2g bye.

Absolute bollocks. Does anybody think that people are going to buy the xbox360 instead of the ps3 because of the price? It's not a "whichevers cheaper" situation. Myself, I am going to buy the ps3 no matter what and I'd never buy an xbox because I didn't have enough money... no, I'd work my ass off and pay for it. Plus, this competition is interesting because the xbox is coming out much much earlier the the ps3, it's interesting to see what happens over the sales period. The competition reminds me of the FF-IE "war" if you will. It's one or the other, never both (in most cases, I know some rich f***ers will have like two of both)

The price is gonna be high, but sony will quickly drop the price for a number of reasons.
Competeing against the xbox that are being sold.
Not losing customers to high price as well as game developers for ps3 not selling as much.. Less gameing systems outthere, less game developers are gonna make for it.
Third party support, royalties, and of course marketing.

700 would make it all but impossible for anyone to get it even if they worked their ass off.
They are not going to alienate the consumer market they feed off of.

He's just trying to push sales of the XBox 360 - the 360 is for sure coming out the end of this year, where as the PS3 is still to be announced. I would lay money on it once XBox 360 has been out for a while and the PS3 is coming, he'll be like "No, PS3 is a far better purchase - you'd better reserve it now.... for a high fee"

Game stores play these same games every time new systems come out - just do what I do and ignore them :)

Some of those systems had as many good games as the Gamecube, and most were technicly superior to what was on the market in their particular times.

Some did lack game developer support, but a price point that was well outside the market just dashed interest in them.

Name another console that died in it's third generation. If I can remember, dreamcast is the only one.

Ditto on that...plus the majority of them are bias, as most of us are anyway...

Since when does having Bluetooth capability make a product hundreds of dollars more just because of that factor?? That's the first clue that shows that the clerk is just talking BS.

And another thing, corect me if I am wrong, isn't the main priority of Bluetooth NOT for data transfers, but for connectability b/w wireless I/O devices? never heard of Bluetooth being used for wireless internet communications.

Don't trust what that guy said, he just made it up in his mind...

The REAL price of the PS3 atm is ~$1400 USD; now Sony will just have to cut a few corners here, there, there, and there, over here, there, some down there, maybe up there, cut the 'cell' chip in half and walla! It's now $500 USD!

Seriously though, I believe the PS3 will literally melt two hours after you turn it on....

See I want to get a job in the next few years at hopefully EB Games so I can proove that not all game store clerks are tools :-) Im not sure what I will get in the way of consoles, Im almost thinking of just giving up console gaming or maybe buying an xbox with a mod chip and going for broke with mod chip stuff.
