Does Peerguardian 2 work? Any feedback?
It works, but it's not fool proof. Look at it this way, its better than not blocking bad IP's. Other than having to turn it off in order for my outlook client to work, I like it. It does not suck up very much resources either. Give it a try. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Omnly way to be 100% safe is not to Download.........
PG2 is better than nothing at all.....I use it on all P2P Apps & Safepeer (Azureus)
Would anyone say it's better than Protowall? God know protowall's driver is a pain to get installed and working?!
What A Twist!
I like it and use it. I can tell u that much. I use it when I down load musicOriginally Posted by thecrip

I have it running 24/7 just an added layer of protection, no really reason not to use it...
Yes it does, sometimes too good. It blocks tracking cookies and click throughs so if you have it set high, it will slow your internet down. I removed it when I left P2P and moved to IRC/newsgroups for downloads.
By the way, you can download and remain anonomous- go from P2P to newsgroups to download your MP3's and movies.
Using NewsGroups doesn't make you anonymous. Might make you a difficult target for anti-piracy groups, but you are not anonymous.

Are there any good "free Newsgroups" out there? My ISP provides me with them, but are there others? What is the best or easiest way to find what your looking for in the newsgroups?
What A Twist!
To answer your two questions, axlman:
1. I'd say it's a lot better then Protowall. I've personally ran into stability issues with Protowall, such as it starts making my computer boot really slow, etc. Not to mention Peer Guardian 2 works without installing any painful drivers - and it blocks just as much as Protowall.
2. Check out Slyck's website on newsgroups: http://www.slyck.com/ng.php
maybe it prevents pregnancy, via the pitiful vibe that its users give off that repels women, but as far as acually protecting you from anything on the internet, it's bogus
it's still crap, it has always been crap, and it always will be crap
the idea is backwards--instead of blocking the "bad" (90% are not bad because their blocklists are total bullshit), it's easier to just make a private p2p just for your friends and only allow "good" people in
IP filtering is still better than no protection whatsoever.Originally Posted by notbob
I have Peer Guardian2 setup to run when Windows starts and I always have it running. I set it to update everyday for Ads, P2P, and Spyware. I can't believe the number of online ads it blocks. It doesn't slow down my computer like older versions or ProtoWall does. It blocks better than Protowall also. It's not a complete firewall but it does it job. It should be used with a complete firewall. I use Norton Internet Security 2005 Firewall and Peer Guardian2 blocks a lot of things that get by Norton.
ThankYou :icon_sunn
So what if the lists aren't perfect its just one more layer of protection, not like its going to hurt anything, and it will even block some ad serversOriginally Posted by notbob
