This is something that I've always wondered, but I can't ever find a reason for (and no one I know can explain why this is) - why is XP Professional considered better for gaming then XP Home?
I'm just curious because I know that most high-end gaming rigs come with Professional instead of Home - that, and in some PC gaming magazines, gaming rigs get marked down for coming preinstalled with Home instead of Professional. I understand that, for example, in businesses, Professional does offer many more features then Home - but, does it really offer a better gaming experience?
I think they base this on the "features" that you can change in win xp pro and and some of those same features are locked in win xp home. But that is only a guess.
It really doesnt matter, its a matter of sheer preference.
I prefer X64 :-)

That's it for now. This list will be updated whenever I feel like it.
xp pro has more pointless services running in the bg by default so id say it was worse for games.

You will always be with me.
i've never heard of XP Pro being better in gaming, I do a lot of gaming and hang out with gamers. I prefer XP Professional for other reasons (mainly the administrative controls are more powerful)

XP is alright, but everybody knows OS/2 is hands down the best Operating System for gaming. Its not half bad for 1337 H4X0R1N6 either.
:P
Where the hell is the ANY key???

I think its because it comes in a blue box versus a green one...
I think its cause of the price tag.. Gamers have to have everything high tech and expensive.. VIDEO card, faster processor, higher priced operating system.. that kind of jazz=0)
i find xp pro is only really better for family use (i have a smaller brother with access to my other comp)
and group policy is great for locking down the system :)

There is no difference between Pro and Home with regard to gaming.
Pro can join a domain and encrypt files.
Home can't do those two things.

That's what I was thinking - the only reason a gamer would upgrade to Professional is because, since it's more money, it must be better.
Well, now I can sleep at night :P Thanks!
well it can't really offer a "better" expeience becaus ethey are both the same damn O.S with Pro just having a bit more bloat in it. (and Remote Desktop Connectivity)
