"ANts...the new es5?" Are you crazy? What kind of nick did you choose? ES5 is a closed source project, not secure. ANts is open-source and use GPL license and noone cracked it until today. So, please, change that nick and starts studying ANts.

ABC_thellookoflove proposes ANts features. If you dislike them, say what you propose instead. And, please, be in-topic.

    ---------------

Kadmelia is a better network, but eDonkey server grant eDonkey sharing. If you use Kademlia, we only share with eMule clients. If we adopt eDonkey network for ANts DC, we share with eMule and with eDonkey clients. We also get fastest searches ...

Attempting to keep on topic before this heads south like the Freenet/Darknet thread...

It'd be a tough call really, if you implemented the eD2K servers, you'd have plenty of more content, but would be suseptible to KaZaA-like attacks...

If you implemented Kademelia...it'd be significantly more secure, but let's face it, 9 out of 10 "Joe Average" P2P users know nothing about Kademelia, as far as they're concerned, it's a button that you click in eMule that brings up some dots and a lot of letters and numbers...I'd have to vote for implementing servers simply because if they didn't, it'd be just another little 100 person "secure, anonymous" community.

I agree, kadamelia is the way to go.

then azureus kademlia implementation has to be adjusted to be aconnectable with emuels kademlia.
Not an easy job. best would be to work in a team with azureues, to make azureues to be able to allow ed2k hash links to find shared media in azureus as well to find trackers for that media.

then azureus would be able to searchf o ed2k links towards media, which is seeded, and not shared. ants then could add the shared option to kad. so both would profit from that.

there is no java kademlia cleint, developing one woidl cot a lot of time, gwren doe snot have, and: just adding it hybrid to ants dc does not help, users are not safe in this mode and so users would use emule. there woudl not be many users running ants dc cleint as a donkey to support ants users to download from the ed2k partials.
Another design, so that there a ants-dc-kad-hybrid nodes ("gatekeepers"), which download for ants nodes the partials from the ed2k network are unlikely as the ourproxy functions in i2p or tor, users have to snet their ip adress to other users to do downloads with the ip in second generation. Techncial yit is complicated to implement this and second if thee is a solution, then the question is, what price do gatekeepers then want ? More queue Credit points for own emule downloads ? no they get mroe points, but the physical media is sent to others (ants nodes). and these others do not give anay credits for gatekeepers.
so the whole question of conneting to the kad-network is quite difficult.. there is no java donkey and coding costs a lot of time and then the sustainabiity of such a ants-dc-kad-hybrid is obsolet.

If this design is scheduled or more detailed, we need to know, if users would use a donkey client, which is the ants dc client ? I guess some users will support or use it, but the masses will use emule o shareaza.

Sahreaza needed 3 years to be an established and accepted donkey client. With server-disabling and leech deisussions, Ants would have to go the same way, and who knows, if the donkey network will be last so long. this emans ants is dead and edonkey will remain edonkey, and gntuella is the main third generation protocol over i2p. End of the year this should be clear to everyone.

    Thumbs down Hmmm

I think we need more ANts P2P development first.

Gwren has been too busy as of late to do anymore work.

We need a team of people.

MUTE does not have a team neither does ANts P2P instead both rely on isolated talented individuals.

We need a situation like freenet i.e. a fulltime person paid for by donations.

    Maybe one day.

But for now talk of hybrids is a waste of time.

ABC you would be better off PMing people in various forums and raising money to get a team together to get current clients up to a professional level rather than an experimental level!
