I have both an ATI card and an nVidia and they both work great. But I am gonna buy a new ATI x700 pro in about 2 weeks. Its just a great card at a nice price. Thats what it comes down too these days.

    Or just delete his sig!

ATI has made the graphics component of the Nintendo GameCube and is going to make the graphics component of both the Nintendo Revolution as the Xbox 360, while nVidia has made the graphics component of the Xbox and is going to make the graphics component of the Playstation 3...

    Wink

That all may be true but that doesn't help my PC any. lol Rigtht now as far as the PC market is concerned, I think the ATI is a better buy, but thats just my opinion from shopping around these last few weeks.

Perhaps a better buy, but nVidia's GeForce 7800 GTX is much faster then anything ATI offers at this moment.

Yea, I think you have to take in more factors than what the fastest card is. I mean most people will not need all that because their PC will be a bottle neck anyways and games will run just fine on a lesser card. Many things need to be thought about when talking about what card you like more. nVidia makes great products no doubt though.

If I had the money I would get the 7800GTX or whatever it is because it is far superior. If I had that money I would probably build a pc that wouldnt be a bottleneck for the card either. But this is not the case. If I actually had SOME money I would probably do what elvis here is doing and get a x700 or similar but as I do not have the some money I am stuck with the 9600PRO.

Why would you need a house when you could also buy the best graphics card available at this moment? :icon_clow
Theirby you can no longer see that the house which your graphics card shows is not real. :icon_geek

My new PC is shaping up slowly but surely,

OK I know its not the best, but I wanted a good machine without spending a mint. I think it will do fine for the limited gaming I do and to serve files.

    So far,

    AMD 64 3000+ 800mgz FSB
1GB DDR PC-3200 Ram (Iwanted 2 gigs but they only had one stick left!)
Crappy nVidia GeForce4 4000 I robbed from old PC, soon to be replaced
    160G seagate HD
Audigy soudcard I robbed from old PC, still a fine card

Over all Im happy with its performance and I'm really proud because I built it! I would like to start another project maybe after this one but I dought I will. It was fun to do though. I can't wait to get a kicking video card to see what she'll do.

I like nVidia because of their superior driver support.

nVidia sounds cooler. ATI sounds like an infection. No honestly, nVidiaa works a whole lot better IMHO.
