Gnutella network is the best for music. (taking into account speed and reliability, and overall content of genres) Bearshare Lite/pro I'd strongly reccomend using. Whatever your getting out of Ares, Andrew, you'll find the Gnutella network will give you more. Considering it's got so much for of whatever your searching for on Ares.

I'd avoid bearshare because of all that lame spyware they have personally, but it does work well if you can ignore the pop-ups. I just got rid of bearshare and started using limewire and it works great and is pop-up free.

BearShare works pretty well, so does the rest of Gnutella, I use eMule+ (edonkey network) for alot of my stuff though.

Yeah, I used the ''sponsered'' then came across ''Lite'', so much better, on the issue of spyware and shit. On the contrary, Overnet and eDonkey networks are great for the content, but I've found they're the only networks where it sucks to actually connect to less then, let's say... 20 peers.

Emule has everything in archives it's great. I recommend it over gnuteellalala because there is no spy ware and you wont find songs that sound like

    chip
    chip
    chip
    CHSHAHOIFH{EWOIFNEW{OIFNEWF
    EWhiccihcihcchip

And if your looking for specialized communities for the kind of music you like.. Filetopia.

Because I have to say filetopia at least 1nce in all my posts for my free ipod.

Newsgroups and IRC are the best. Ares is close third.
It's not what you say but how you get your point across!
