Penn students find expectations of legal downloading unrealistic

Two-thirds of U.S. college students see nothing unethical about downloading copyrighted music without paying, according a survey conducted by the Business Software Alliance. The national survey also indicated that illegal downloading practices extend beyond the college campus and into the workplace.
The survey suggests that music-sharing is a gateway practice into downloading software and other files. Several colleges across the country have introduced a fee included in tuition to cover the cost of a file-sharing program.
At Penn, many students have expressed interest in such a program, but most said that they would not want to have to pay a mandatory fee for the service. Penn students seem to share the majority belief that downloading copyrighted music presents no ethical dilemma.

Duh i see nothing wrong with it. Been happening for at least 21 yrs of my adult life that people have been sharing copyrighted music. They just need to start an Ad bannar-supportive app that pays the artists and eliminate the record companies period. Artists need to learn how to upload their stuff to these ad-supportive p2p programs and the artists get paid via the Downloads. No one Downloads your stuff you don't get paid and that is it. Pepsi, Coke, McDonalds, Kmart, Walmart, ect ect can start supporting an ad bannar supportive p2p program where as when the program does not run on your computer it does not mess around taking up memory or anything else. Free p2p is here to stay. As far as paid subscription services go, Music Now is the best since you don't need to Download anything to stream their stuff. What a concept. Wow now people just need to head over to Circuit City and sign up for $9.95/Mo. They even have more than Rhapsody does. Oh and you can use programs to record the streams. Almost just as good as p2p for those on college campuses and don't want to buy crapster.
