Dell's customers are lamenting about the company shutting down the Customer Care message boards that have long been part of its Dell Community Forum, with some wondering about Dell's service commitment.
The moderated message boards, which allowed Dell customers to post and reply to questions about general order support, rebate status, warranty information or invoice questions, were shut down July 8. The company notified customers of the change on Monday with a posted message that referred customers to Dell's Order Status Web site or its online chat feature that promises to link consumers with a Dell Customer Care representative.
Longtime contributors such as "Rick," who also runs a site called DellTalk, expressed sadness at the changes.
"For those of us that have spent the past few years on these forums, we know the tens of thousands of people that the moderators have helped," Rick said in a post this week. "Shutting down the Customer Service (non technical) forums will only further the belief that Dell is focusing on business customers and doesn't care about the consumer."

Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be.
This is good mabey they will stop making shitty computers aswell....
god i hate dells
everytime i have to fix one .....
god i hate dells
A world of invisible people. We pass them without seeing them, as casually and indifferently as we pass our own reflections in store front windows. Do they really live among us? Or are they citizens of another country, a vast and teaming gulag of the dispossessed. No, don't turn away. Look in their faces. Do you see your brother? Your mother? An old friend? Someone you went to school with? Someone you once loved? No? You didn't see them? Not today. Tomorrow you could.
This isn't so much about the quality of their computers, but the quality of their customer service. I think that any company offering a service to the public should be able to assist the customer when they need help. By removing the message boards, I think they took away an easy way for their customers to seek help.
Now stop being so freaking nice, and buy a stun gun. - Krell

like honestly, who does that?!?!
Not overly fond of the company, but they do a better job than some companies.
How's about them apples?
Every since they fired the stoner dood I havent liked Dell. I mean just look at the guy! He looks like a stoner dood! Dood, youre a stoner dood! What happens when he goes out and lives up to his image (that Dell created)? He gets shit canned! Bring back the Dell stoner dood and customer support too! I don't know much about Dell PC's other than having to use them at work, where they seem to do their job well. I think as a mass market PC, there is nothing wrong with them.
Hard as ever and here to make you people believe...as long as there is one person to hold hope and dream...A GOD...will never die!
I'm running a dell right now, no complaints from me, other than some skimping to make it cheaper.
Example:
Ordered with 1Gig of ram, they shipped with a Mobo with two slots containing a 512 each. Pain in the ass if ya wanna upgrade.
Other than that, I'm happy with it. I'll always build my own computer from now on, but that's beside the point, it has nothing to do with lack of quality.
How's about them apples?
Aw, this blows. I actually used they're message boards several times to help out with upgrading my dell...which can be fairly tricky. Those boards were so cool, because you could talk to someone who had your exact same configuration and ask them how they upgraded certain parts. I'm going to miss those forums.
