Downloads suddenly went slow...and stayed slow

a couple of months ago by download speeds went to practically non existant 4kb max!!!! i assume it was a provider problem and was moving suppliers so thought nothing more of it. now i have joined up with a new ISP with unlimited downloads and a 2meg connection and still the problem is there! if im lucky a torrent hits 10kb for a bit. downloading normal files off websites go at 150-200kb a second!! so why dont my torrents. i have tried torrentstorm and now ABC and its the same problem. so i dont think the bit torrent client is the problem.

my broadband is from a voyager 205 ASDL router if that means anything!, and im using avg antivirus with windows firewall running.

any ideas? something simple im missing? i thought i must have changed something for it to suddenly change. but i cant remember doing anything different...could avg be the problem??

HELP !!! i cant wait 426 hours for my download to finish!! haha

I have had the exact same problem, i thought it was just bearshare being crap, so i moved to limewire, but that was just as bad so now im on shareaza but again... same problem. i used to have fantastic speeds on bearshare but now im lucky if i get 120kbps or 10KB/s on shareaza.

I'm on XP sp2, 1.1 mbps adsl connection and use avg and firefox. also, i always have the windows firewall running. cheers if any1 has a clue

Try disabling all firewalls and see if anything changes. Also are you sure you didn't by accident just limit your speeds?

did you add a router to your system? if so, you may need to set up static ip then eather port forwarding or dmz.

I am having the same problem, my speeds were high until a couple of days ago when they dropped to about 3KB/s. I have forward all the ports etc, tried different ports, set up a static IP, tried different clients (I use BitComet), used that hack thingy by LvlLord (I'm not technically minded, sorry), tried out torrents with loads of seeds. None of this seems to work. This only seems to apply to torrents on any port I try, my normal download speeds and connection speeds seem to be fine.
Can someone please help solve this problem!
