Video game "Dungeon Siege" to become Hollywood flick

LOS ANGELES (AFP) - British actor Jason Statham and US actress Leelee Sobieski will reportedly star in a 60-million-dollar Hollywood film version of the hit video game "Dungeon Siege."

The movie adaptation of the role-playing game, which plunges players into a fantasy world reminiscent of "The Lord of the Rings," begins filming Sunday in the Canadian city of Vancouver, the Hollywood Reporter said.

Stratham starred in major films including "Collateral" and "Cellular," while Sobieski has acted in such films as "Eyes Wide Shut."

Uwe Boll??? Why do these Studios keep letting him make all these stupid movies. I am openminded about the games being transformed to movies but this guy has already fucked two up. He made House of the Dead, and Alone in the Dark, and hes got Bloodrayne coming out this year.

This is totally ass-backwards. What's next? Are they gonna make a novel based on a video game? The idiocy never ends in Hollywood!

I've got an idea, instead of ten or twelve new "films" per week, how about one really good one per month?

It seems like Hollywood is running out of ideas. You've got movies based on video games, and how many remakes do we have this year? Its only July, just wait until the Christmas season!

    Liotta Joins Dungeon Siege

Ray Liotta, Will Sanderson, Brian J. White and Eva Padberg have joined the cast of director Uwe Boll's upcoming video-game sword-and-sorcery movie Dungeon Siege, producer Shawn Williamson of Brightlight Pictures announced.

Based on the popular video game of the same name, Dungeon Siege follows the hard life of lowly Farmer on a mission to save his wife and child. An unspeakably evil army, led by Gallian (Liotta), rampages across the land, destroying everything in its path, with the aim of conquering the Castle Ehb and vanquishing the King himself.

As previously announced, Jason Statham (The Italian Job) will play Farmer, Leelee Sobieski is Muriella, and Ron Perlman (Hellboy) plays Norick.

Dungeon Siege is based on Gas Powered Games' popular game. Boll directs from a screenplay by Doug Taylor, David S. Freeman and Glenn Benest.

I see your not famillar with the Halo book series...

Its not ass-backwards videogames have been turned into movies for years now. As least a movie based on dungeon siege could work if its done right, chances are it wont be and will suck hard but its too early to tell.

You want to see something ass-backwards look at the Doom movie where the only thing it has in common with the game is that its set on mars. There is no demons from hell..
