Using Laptop as wifi card for desktop

Ok, so in my room i have a laptop and a desktop computer. My laptop connects to the internet through wifi. I don't want to buy a new wifi card to connect to the internet and the router is in another room so i can't use an ethernet cable to connect it to the internet. My question is, is there a way to connect my laptop to my desktop so that the desktop can access the internet from the laptop's wifi. I'm looking for the most inexpensive solution, so yea. thx in advance.

They are both windows machines btw

It would be fairly easy to do with Windows XP internet connection sharing. It's somewhat limited but it does work. I wouldn't bother with it unless you're on a seriously limited budget. You can get a pci wifi card for under $20 these days.
