Now I know "back in the day" DeadAIM was the 'cool' add-on to have for AIM because it worked and it was free. Then they started charging money and a lot of people moved on or found 'free' versions like I did. I now use AIM Ad Hack because it works with 5.9 and removes all the crap as well. I guess my whole issue is, I sort of feel sorry for the people who paid Jim Dennis $4.99 for a program and were promised 365 days of updates, and haven't gotten anything in OVER a year.
Just check out these forums, read some of the posts, these guys have huge issues :-\

Frankly, I think GAIM trumps AIM any day, but just a random observation by a gal who never posts anything here anymore.
GAIM and Trillian are both great alternatives. Especially GAIM, since it's open-source, but I've found Trillian to be more stable.
How's about them apples?
No, but Trillian Pro does.Originally Posted by black_magiic

Gaim all the way - I personally love it because it's cross platform (and, I'll argee - the Windows version isn't the greatest - but the Linux version works great)
Honestly, I rarely even touch the official AIM client - only in the rare case when I need to send a file and Gaim won't work for some reason.
