    XM Satellite Radio

I just got a XM ready receiver for my wifes car since her original radio quit working and I got to say she loves it. She loves the oldies stations and I love to listen to the sports games on long trips. So anyone else got a XM Radio service?

I have always wondered about getting one when I actually have a car and a drivers license.

Stay away from XM. It is a Clear Channel thing. They own everything and are slowly degrading the choices for entertainment American's can choose...

    XM... BAD!

I've had XM for almost 3 years. A lot of people tell me they are the anti-Christ or something like Phil11 I don't understand why but they can have their opinion. Basically it has a ton of variety without commercials which is usually good. The problem is they have too much variety and play too many shitty songs to keep up variety. Or maybe the lack of commercials gives them too much time to fill. As far as oldies your wife is in luck because they do that rather good. My problem is the thrash stations suck. Squizz is a shitty station and their thrash station sucks even worse, I usually end up listening to classic rock or alternative because I'd rather punch myself in the balls repeatedly then listen to another song from Nickelback, Cold, Matchbox 20, 3 Doors Down or Hoobastank. These bands suck so bad it's unbelievable and XM won't stop playing them.

    Xm

I think alot of facts are misinterpreted when it comes to XM and Sirius. I've had both of them for about 3 years as well and I have to say that you can't go wrong. Rarely do I listen to FM anymore and the selection you get with both is AMAZING.

XM: Deeper playlists (not always the hits, which sometimes is good but sometimes when you just want to hear the hits is annoying), they're more reserved when it comes to funding outrageous ideas (Stern, Martha Stewart, NFL, etc.), they also have the most subscribers out there. They have more online stations than Sirius, IMHO a better interface, and 64/32Kbps connection instead of Sirius's only 32Kbps. Rumor has it they're creating a way to buy songs you hear (like iTunes), they've started a deal with audible.com, and in July there's supposed to be ALOT more announcements.

Sirius: Definitly trying to become a player. IMHO they have the most variety in terms of stations. Faction (Rap/Rock) on the same station is hosted by a famous athlete almost every night (Tony Hawk, Lance Armstrong, Bam Margera, Kelly Slater, etc.). Plays mostly the hits, but with DJs on almost every station. More like FM but with nationwide coverage and no commercials. Stern in 06, Martha Stewart. Supposedly "better" sound with a better audio codec but that's still up for debate (i've heard strong arguments for both).

You won't go wrong with whatever one you choose, it is true that Clear channel has invested in XM (something like 11%, but that's to protect their radio marketshare). The rumors that they're going to instantly "buy up" XM are not only false but crazy. I can say without a doubt that this is NOT what you hear on FM and it's worth the money (I rarely buy CDs because of the amount of music XM plays).

Have you tried calling Bodhi or Grant Random? They both reply to e-mails and actually PICK UP their phone. I've even been put on the AIR which is pretty cool considering it's national. Let them know what you like and I'm pretty sure they'll take it into consideration....it's the radio OF THE FUTURE!! haha

Nothing compares to choosing music you want to listen to it when you want to listen to it.
If I want to listen to a particular artist and song at 2 am I wanna hear it then not when someone elses dam well tells me I am to hear it.

    Whatever floats your boat.
