    Help! Slow DL speed :(

can someone help me please as I'm on 1mb broadband and i'm getting a pathetic 30 kb/s on a high activity torrent************ I have this problem with every torrent though, strange thing is I get no problem on my downstairs PC, just on my upstairs PC. Im routed through a US Robotics 8000-A router but it's configured for my IP, and I have a static IP setup so im confused and annoyed...

    I'm using BitComet.

I will be grateful for any help.

Please do not mention the names of your files here.

Make sure the correct ports are forwarded in your router. If you have firewall software, including WinXP's built-in one, you need to allow the applicaiton to access the internet or act as a server.

Which client are you using? Enable Upnp on your router and client if possible. Also try manually copying the settings file for the bittorrent client from your good computer.

I'm using BitComet. I gave up on torrents for a while because I couldn't get my speeds up. I came back to it today (with my fingers crossed) no luck. I used port forward guides to make sure everything was set up correctly on my router, but it didn't help. I have enbaled uPnP port mapping in BitComet (with no change in DL speed) but im not sure howto enable it for my router (if it isn't already enabled). I have windows firewall disabled as I use Norton Internet Security. There seems to be no port forwarding settings in Norton, but there is a HTTP port blocking section. If anyone has any ideas how I can improve my downlaod speeds taking this into consideration please tell me.

    Thanks in advance.
