So does the DHT of BitComet work with DHT of BitTorrent and/or Azereus..???
I'm currently sitting in BitComet as "Node 174"
In Azereus it shows 533,302 users

Are thes eboth refrring to the DHT network? Of their own system? or is there a link?

    Can someone explain please?

    Thanks

Ok I'll answer my own post for others info.. cos I think this is interesting:
Here's what it says on BitComet website:

    ---------------------------------------------------
    What is DHT Network?

DHT(Distributed Hash Table) is method of a distributed storage for pairs. There is no center server in DHT Network, every client take charge of a small range of routing, a small set of data storage, so that in the whole DHT network, data can be found, read and write. The new version of BitComet can connect to Tracker and DHT network, that means file can be download even if all trackers can not be connected. The protocol of DHT Network in BitComet is compatible with BitTorrent Beta 4.1.2, so that they can share the same network. Please note that the DHT in Azureus is not compatible with BitTorrent Beta and thus also not compatible with BitComet.

The DHT algorithm we use is Kademlia ( called KAD in eMule, but the network protocol is different from bittorrent. ) You can find more about DHT network here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distributed_hash_table
    ------------------------------------------------
    So.. this is crazy!!!!

There's BitTorrent and Bit Comet going in one direction and bloody Azereus in another...!!

IMHO Azereus should change and make itself compatible with BiTorrent and BitComet..

I agree lu... Az should change their DHT to match Official & Comet... considering Bram Cohen invented the protocol i think he should be the one to make big changes to it... IMHO

PS. Comet rocks, Az is OTT

Azureus implementation of DHT is better than the baseline. AFAIK, the pool of Azureus users exceeds that of the baseline + BC anyway.
