WinMX and "Ghost Files" - Pls Help
The unitiated need to know! The other day when I was downloading MP3 files, I was chatting superficially with two people (whose collections I had pre-browsed and found nothing untoward). Towards the end of the chat, one of them commented, "I note that you have a great deal of porn in your collection." I replied that he must be mistaken. He assured me that he wasn't. At that point, I asked the other person I was chatting with if he would verify that such material showed up when he browsed my collection. The answer came back positive.
Somewhat unnerved, I ventured into one of the help chat groups within WinMX and explained the situation. Here's what one person said,
"You have 'ghost files'--recycle your connection--you are allowing users to use your bandwidth for their searches."
Kindly explain how anyone can monkey around with my collection list (I'm behind a firewall). and how do I recycle my connection? I've searched all over the place and I can't find any reference to this type of problem.
Any help would be much appreciated.
