For some reason when i go into netscape mozilla or ie and itype in 192.168.1.1 it doesent come up and says page cannot be found. Without port forwarding hosting games and filesharing is nonexistent. Can someone explain why this is happening?
You tried to access a website running on one of the Internet Private Addresses below which is NOT routed on the Internet.

Internet standards reserved these specific network address ranges for private use and are NOT routed on the Internet. The site you attempted to access violates these standards.
Don't know if that will help you, but that's what IE returned for me....
If you haven't already, shut everything down, including your computer(s), router, and broadband modem.
Once everything is off, turn on your broadband modem first and wait. After about a minute (or whenever the lights go solid) the modem will be connected. Then turn on your router and wait. Give it about 30 seconds. Then turn on your computer(s) and try accessing the internal page on the router one more time (192.168.1.1). If you still can't get to it, then you have some other problem.
This was a first step toward fixing the problem and is always a good step if something isn't working.

I don't know if i understand your question or problem exactly. However the address you typed into the address bar, as cjules13 pointed out, is non routable. If you had a router and were assigning static ip address then this could possibly be a number assigned to anything hooked into your network including workstations, servers or other hardware like routers, gateways, or switches. I don't really see what the ip address has to do with the port forwarding that you are speaking of. If it's a machine that you are trying to do gaming over the internet with you can set it up through your router to forward certain ports or even allow specific types of packets through on a given port or ranges of ports.
