Does anyone know the secret of good news editing?
The formula most newspapers seem use is that if it has high suffering it goes near the front, low suffering or pleasure at the back of the paper.
So you never see cartoons on the the front page. And as no-one gets killed in sport usually, and people seem to enjoy it, then that's right at the back.
It should be called a "pain paper", not a "news paper".
Huh? I thought english football fans kill/maim/beat each other to a bloody pulp on a regular basis, and yet it doesn't land on the front page? or is that part of the pleasure?

Yes they are prone to violence and racism at times. when they get a bit uppity, they put the story on the back, so we've now got two front pages, and the middle becomes the only pleasurable part.
It becomes a very thin Victoria Sandwich Cake.

Its knowing what is news and what is not news and making good summarizations of the news stories.. Without letting your personal opinion get in the way..
That's what I tried to define, in a lighthearted way in my first post.
Actually, the goal is to grab someone's attention in order for them to buy the newspaper and read it... that's what the front page is for... usually news stories most people want to read, so they put it on the front page.Originally posted by Sephiroth

Yes the summarization is to get people interested in the article to read it but why dont we see alligatorboy or cleberity rumors from tabloids on the front of every newspaper then since those are attention grabbers also.
