I think sooner or later, Intel is gonna go bankrupt. Everybody loves AMD Athlon and that includes me. So music beats 23, I suggest AMD.

AMD definatly the way to go. I'm a recent AMD convert (admitadly I only used intels because thats what i got, i didnt buy the hardware (amazing what people dump as garbage ;) ) so didnt have a say in what i got). But I have got an AMD nowas my main PC and am really happy with its performance.

Definatly recommended and i will be buying them in future. Not to mention they already have a more mature 64-bit consumer processor, and dual-core 64-bit on the way.

AMD is far superior, as well as less expensive. Im suprised more pc companies dont dump the p4 all together.

I am currently using an athlon 64 3500 (939), and it is with out a doubt the best experience I've had with a PC.

Dang skippy. I'd get an Athlon 64 if I had the money, but alas, I don't.

Glad to see lots of agreement on AMD, I just don't care what Intel does anymore.

I have an Intel Pentium 4.
People standin on top of the white house, there's people standin up on capital hill...
They stand up there, sound like they know something...
They all still wake up in the morning, drink a cup of coffee and take a shit, they aint better than I am.
And they dance around a problem... say this... talk about the eco-nomic imp-li-cations...

But their grandfather, great great grandfather, was just like my great great grandfather, just a bunch of monkeys swingin up in trees shittin in the woods.

I would say to research as much as possible all together. Media whores will tell you intel, hands down. Fanboys will tell you AMD, hands down. It's a friggin chevy/ford discussion. Price points and approaches differ, but in the technology war the upper hand often flip flops. Find the pros and cons for each one, and weigh it out versus your expectations. Above all, think for yourself, as your the only one who will be pissed if you take bad advice.

Yeah, too bad intel copied an older spec that AMD had engineered, even copying their technical documents word-for-word in many cases.

Maybe you 'ought to go with the original... AMD64 :-)
