"Doom" film shoots for video game style

SAN DIEGO, July 17 (Reuters) - A movie version of classic video game series "Doom" takes some visual cues from the world of games, according to a clip of the film shown on Sunday.

The original "Doom" was one of the first video game successes when it debuted more than a decade ago. It helped establish the first-person-shooter genre in which killing aliens, mutants or demons is central to a game's plot.

In first-person-shooters, the player often looks at the world down a gun-sight, and that is exactly the point of view in part of the movie, according to a clip shown at the Comic-Con convention in San Diego.

Wow, they're trying this again? Hope it actually makes it to the big screen this time.

I remember reading about a Doom movie in Flux magazine (if anyone even remembers that) in something like 1996. It never went anywhere, because video games are GAMES, not movies. Who still watches Street Fighter? That's what I thought.

The Doom movie will probably rival the Wing Commander movie in suckage.

You think they'll show The Rock's head at the bottom in the center while he gets all messed up?

Nope, the money lost is by the people who worked on the film. No big deal. Just another American industry down the shitter and free shit for the brats to complain about. When I think about it, it makes me sick.

People will inevitably go see it in the theatres,so they still make their money, but the people that the net saves from wasting their money if the movie is a piece of crap are the lucky ones.

If past movies based on video games are any indication of what is to become of this movie, then it'll probably be crap.but who knows?Usually they just buy the rights to make the game into a movie and don't care if it's any good because people will watch it just because they were a fan of the games. If the movie is crap, they'll lose money, and rightfully so.

Well Resident Evil And The Tomb Raider Movies Were Good But Not Every Game To Movie Works As Well As Those.
