I have both and I can tell you, Get the psp. It has more games, More games coming out, And way more features. I have a DS and a PSP so I am not talking out of my ass. I have had 20 times more fun with my psp than my DS.

at the begginning of PSP's launch it was creaming DS on weekly sales, but as a new barrage of killer apps and good games arrived for DS- the DS began to out sell PSP by 5:1

currently world wide theres been an explosion in DS sales in all the major regions- cant remember the figure. but current sale of PSP vs DS are

DS 6 million with another 5 million shipped international
    PSP 1.6 million.

PSP software is mediocre at best- the only title that maybe worth something is lumines witch is a puzzle game- but for the extortionate price of a handheld device that is poor quality in design (no matter how sexy it looks) doesn't justify a perchase

    and this is no accident.

the games currently out for the PSP are severely over rated- lets look at ridge racer and wipeout pure for instance- nobody plays wipeout anymore and has become a niche game- if you played wipeout in the past pay your $45-50 for the game- it gets boring very quickly

ridge racer was good in its time but after a 2 days of play the game is old and the controlls on the cars become poor and the speeds are just crazy- plus it has the most unnatural corning mechanism of any game

coupled with the many defects of the PSP's themselves theres a good chance that your's will be defected- theres a 1 in 5 chance- defects are split between, dead screen pixels, damaged slightly ajay UMD lids, dust under the what is poor quality screen protector, including Square buttons that get stuck.

the PSP screen is incredibly susceptable to scratches if you take your eye off it for even a second. the screen protector covering is one of the cheapest and poorest ones in the industry. DS doesn't suffer from this as its a clamshell design- plus if you buy even a softer stylus then the one provided scratches are 100% impossible with the screen even if you bash the screen hard with a soft stylus.

theres rumours created by hype that PSP would see a price drop soon- the verdict is higly unlikely- the chips themselves cost alot to manufacture and take time to manufacture too as they are designed for multimedia application- theres already a thin spreadage of the PSP in america and Japan- plus they are losing loads of money on PSP's sold- (even with the exhorbitant cost of the device) sony have invested too much money into the PSP it was rushed- sony's credit rating has dropped- they lost loads of money on the PSX DVD recorder and the whole electronics devision of sony is suffering- the head of Sony entertainment was demoted- the costs of the new chip CELL processor for PS3 plus investment is sky high and threated by Xbox too which lowers equity PUT bluntly sony are suffering and a price drop on either the games or the unit itself is suicide.

DS is going online in october using a new free service that can be accessed at hotspots in the city or linked to a $15- 24 dollar wi fi adapter that can be linked to a computer to play future games like metroid fusion multiplayer- bomberman- animal crossing DS- Golden eye- pokemon- plus loads more i forget to mention some of which are set to be AAA titles.

plus the guy above made it out as if theres gonna be alot more games for the PSP-

actually 3rd party support is skyrocketing again due to DS's succsess and the current number of DS release titles completely eclipse PSP offerings that are a whole series of rehashes - stripped down franchise versions at the same expensive prices.

the movie capability of the PSP is nealy useless- movies are priced at $25- 30
and the UMD FORMAT IS NOT SUPPORTED BY HARDLY ANY OF THE BIGGEST MOVIE STUDIOS.
which is sad and only equates to around 25 movies. the best of which is kill bill 1&2 and spiderman 2.

the quality of the movies are not as good as people have made out too.

as UMD in in retro spect not a true universal format that cant be played in any other players the format is doomed to fail misetrably and it means that you cant watch the movie on a nice big TV screen for your money- utterly rediculus.

if you want to listen to MP3's you need a special software- and you have to change the musics format eachtime you load it onto a MEM stick- plus you dont get the Mem stick in the pakage and you will need tom dish out another $25-40

if your buyinhg a handheld for gaming then i suggets you get a DS but if you get a PSP prepare to feel out of wallet unless your a conpulsive spender without regret and you want to look hip in front of hipfad idiots. or if you really are rich then i guess its ok to mark your status with a PSP- but its status a reputable handheld will go down the toilet in what my estimate will be a year and a half after top titles like nintendogs and pokemon come of for DS-

mind you i mention pokemon as it will sell millions of \ds's increasing the user base and meaning youll have alot more people to play via wi-fi

in 2002 pokemon sales had a achieved a staggering 129 million sales- i dont think PSP stands a chance without a killer app. online details are shoddy for the PSP like they were with the PS2 and this looks like a total gimmick and probably wont amount to anything as sony it is bewcoming evident had no prior plans for online functionality in a free user friendly format like what Nintendo is investing in for the DS with its free NO LINE service.

Quit talking out of your ass, Sony owns MGM's movie library, that in itself leaves hundereds of good classics. .

The Studios currently signed on to release material on Sony UMD include Columbia-Tristar, Universal, Mirimax, MGM (no longer a big studio but biigggg lbrary), Buena Vista (Essentially everything Disney)

I hate to tell you but thats pretty much the major players, of course all of them only made 25 movies all together with only Kill Bill being the good one :icon_scra

IF you look at the movie libraries of all the studios listed here you will find most of the blockbusters that have come out in the past years either through the fact that they were the original publishers at the time or they bought out some other competitors library.

The only big player not in there is 20th Century Fox and I am sure they won't mind licesnsing to Sony.

Money talks, lots of money gonna be had in PSP

Absolute rubbish. The simple fact is that psp has better hardware, better sound, a larger screen, better 3rd party support, mpeg playback, a better control layout, and doesn't rely on gimmicky shit and kids games to sell units. The fact that ds is outselling psp is primarily due to the fact that ds came out earlier and is more established in the marketplace because of it. You spew nothing but inconsequential facts and absolute bullshit. Frankly, you sound like a nintendo employee.

i agree with moneoa miniver your talking crap the hole square button thing was that some of the very first psp's with sticking about which they fixed and if you did have one of the few psp's it effected sony had no problem in changing it for a new 1.

"f your buyinhg a handheld for gaming then i suggets you get a DS but if you get a PSP prepare to feel out of wallet unless your a conpulsive spender without regret and you want to look hip in front of hipfad idiots. or if you really are rich then i guess its ok to mark your status with a PSP- but its status a reputable handheld will go down the toilet in what my estimate will be a year and a half after top titles like nintendogs and pokemon come of for DS-"

I am thinking of buying a portable soon and it will probably be the Nintendo DS.

The reasons why are because the PSP as a piece of a hardware doesnt seem portable to me (poor battery life and long loading times) There is no reason for me to buy a portable device that is best suited to be used at home.

None of the games released or being released for it differ that much from PS2 games (a cheap PS2 is also something that i plan to buy soon), GTA for the PSP is the only game im looking forward to on it.

I really want to get Nintendogs, Advanced Wars, Final Fantasy 3, online Animal Crossing and Mario Kart, pc strategy game: Age of Empires II and weird sound experimental game: Electroplankton.

FinalSolace sounds like another twatty fanboy to me. The PSP has sold more than 1.6 million worldwide.

The Sony games division have made a huge amount of money from the PS2 and they wont abandon the PSP in the near future.

They are not 'losing loads of money' on each PSP. The standard price may lose a small amount/break even, but the [un]value pack makes them a very small profit.

Sony like MS with the xbox, plan to make their profit through the games....the UMD movies, and memory sticks. The problem with this plan is that people may buy the PSP for the multimedia abilities rather than the games.

actually you quit talking out your ass.

universal is in advanced talks=== not a confirmation of support has been released- but the only reason Universal is making enquiry's is because the have been showing of the shit UMD media during Blue ray negotiations which is a cheap way of sliding in UMD- its still too expensive and wont sell.

you can buy 2 AAA DVDs for the Price of a UMD to play in your DVD player.
it is just a gimmick- and people that play games on and off but like the multimedia options will be really dissapointed.

you obviously dont own a psp and are therefore a fanboy

buena vista are not releasing much

EDIT- and as for the other studios, they preety much suck ass- theyre better tittles and few triple AAA have been and gone.

plus MGM is in major debt and the other sony picture houses are threatened also- if psp sells even worse in the comming months the studios profit will sink even further down the toilet! what major movie studios want to be associated with sony- especially as company analyists in the studios have got the psp figures and know that even the sony hype aint working this time.

looks like your on page 2 of your"how to be a nintendo fanboy"

"and the UMD FORMAT IS NOT SUPPORTED BY HARDLY ANY OF THE BIGGEST MOVIE STUDIOS.

you right at the moment only 25 movies are confired some of which are T2, Hero, house of flying daggers, final fantasy ac ect i loved how you made it out as though these will be the ONLY ones released thats like saying the games that are confired are the only ones coming out for it.
the psp isnt even out in europe yet and your compairing which has sold more well duh! if were gonna be like that then we should all go out and buy a origanal gameboy the one with the green screen because thats sold more than the ds and psp put together so it must be better.

this is also total bullshit comments- let me elaborate.

when the DS was released it was selling at a steady rate that was quite good-

but when psp released the launch was very below par- the following weeks the PspS momentum actually speeded and began catching up.

then the defect issue was exposed - thousands and thousands of psp's were sent back to theyre retail stores and exchanged- BUT the defected consoles were still counted as sales on top of the exchanged units.

then the hype bomb set in- people just werent that satifyed with the PsP and momentunm is slowing to a crawl giving the DS a free leg up- as from about 4 weeks ago DS has been far outselling PSP's primarily iu think this is because its cheaper- no defects- has some fun new style of games to play that actually FEELS better.

and whats this about 3rd parties- i'm really starting to get vex-

FOR THE THIRD TIME PSP DOES NOT HAVE MORE SUPPORT THEN THE DS

dont actually make my pull out the lists to shut you up- because when i do and your still ranting and raving about sony you'll be exposed as a die hard sony fanboy.

    PSP hradware is better?
the PSP has defects in 1 in 5 of machienes- you didnt read my earlier post.

yes the DS had dimming screen issues at the beggining and weaker screen plates but they were all exchanged quickly abd the existuing DS's were flawlessly packaged- HARDWARE QUALITY FOR DS IS FAR BETTER- of the quality people would expect.

AND YES THE DS BATTERY LASTS 4 TIMES MORE THEN THE PSP ON THE MOST DEMANDING OF GAMES- AND THATS THE GAMES THAT TAKE UP THE MOST JUICE FOR THE IGNORANT.

my sources come from 4 of the top gaming sites on the net.

    the most unrivalled forums are.
    www.magicbox.com
    www.gaming-age.com

ign and gamespot make commission on psp sales thru ads on theyre sites so they will lie and be biased- they are the most unreputable sites on the whole net with hardcore gamers- so go get your info's.

Boy you really showed me by calling me a fan boy and letting me know what you think.
You obviously don't own either of them and are a mouth piece for some marketing branch.

Oh look a movie by universal for UMD PSP

but you really know what you are talking about right?
None of us do, even the people who own it.

Next time know what the hell your talking about before making an ass of yourself
and make sure you actually know a person before looking ignorant and applying labels.

I am not fanboying, I own a gamecube and had Xbox.
