Most computer today have IDE or ATA Disk Controller Card, you can get IDE or ATA drives. If you have newer SATA card get SATA drives.

If your computer case doesn't have room but you have USB or Firewire ports, you can get external USB or Firewire drives.

Externals are great. That way it serves as a back up devise as well as storage.

I'm a FAN of the Digital Junkie . . . but may I please make a point here, that when you add an SATA card, you are still limited by the IDE bus speed.

Therefore, adding SATA as an ADD ON is of no real benefit.

Motherboards have two IDE Cabled, and each can connect two IDE drives, whether hard drives or CD Rom etc. What I suspect is that you need to see if you need two new CABLES or not!

Open your case, look at the flat ribbon cable, are there any empty connector ends to use? Do you have any spare 12v connectors to power another drive? IDE cables are about $4 per set.

Check this out, and then decide what you need, adding a new drive is EASY PEASY, we can talk you right through it

    cheers
