@ months back I got a letter from my ISP saying that Bay TSP/ via Paramount had detected that was in possesion of some copyrighted material. The material in question was the machinist. The only thing is I never downloaded the machinist. You see for some reason everyone once in while when I use Azureus it allocate (is this even the right word) the whole file on my hard drive. For example I just started to download the Terminator trilogy and as soon as started downloadinf I got a message saying I was out of harddrive space. The download was 12.6 GBs an even though i had just started it Windows thought the whole file was downoladed. Back to the machinist I thought about gettingi had the torrent file and even attempt t start the download but got an error message. After going to imdb and seeing some negative comments I said fuck it. So heres the reason why I started this thread (dont worry about me this happened months ago) lets say tagged can they even have grouns to even send ur ISP them bulllshit letters for files u dont even possess.

Thats the thing with torrents, when you open it, the file is "created", but it's not actually there yet and it's not actually 12.6Gb in your case! It's weird, I don't know why that happens, could be a reason why they are so fast...?

It doesnt matter of you GOT IT or not, you requested the file, and they sniffed you out.

Yes, they have grounds to send your ISP letters requesting them to issue you a Cease and Desist letter.

It is these whores job to try to "protect" copywrited materials.

Hmm still doesnt make sense theres nothing there. So could i just rename a file to lets a AVP but in reality it just a 700 mb notepad file. plus the file in question was actually in my Nortons Protected trash bin. Ive since stop using DC++ (only used it about 6 times in a year since its slow).

It's done to prevent fragmentation of the disk. So the space for the entire file is allocated at once, but the whole space is only zeros until there's actually real data downloaded and written into the allocated space in the correct place.
