Alexander Hanff, the owner of dvdr-core.org is fighting the MPAA. He is not backing down, he is standing strong in the face of intimidation and extreme pressure. You can play a part in his defence and hopefully, his victory. Put a little something back into the community.
Can u help with any of the following?
Publicity. Publicity. Publicity. Can you get Alexander's story run on a prominent site? For maximum penetration to all, a Slashdot story would be a superb addition to the campaign already underway but publicity anywhere would be appreciated.
An artist/banner designer is needed to do artwork to promote his cause on other sites. Are you a designer or a budding artist who would like to support someone in need in the file sharing community? An hour or two of your time doing something you love would make all the difference.
Are you a website owner prepared to show this image on your website?
http://www.dvdr-core.org/images/stories/tshirthash.jpg
or could you spread it for maximum publicity?
Support Alexander and support file-sharing. A victory for the community is very possible with this case and a helping hand is needed to ensure that more people aren't bullied as Alexander has been.
Please visit www.dvdr-core.org for more details and thank you all for your time
hmmm.....Spam?

Whatever happened to that last guy that stood up to MPAA... lol
I Support your cause no matter which way it's done. (Real men get married)

Yeah, i heard about it earlier going offline and such. there is still pisexy.org =)
the request is not unreasonable a little publicity on the fight could help and at least there was no mention of donations unlike that other asshole that screwed so many people out of their money
viva la revolution
A world of invisible people. We pass them without seeing them, as casually and indifferently as we pass our own reflections in store front windows. Do they really live among us? Or are they citizens of another country, a vast and teaming gulag of the dispossessed. No, don't turn away. Look in their faces. Do you see your brother? Your mother? An old friend? Someone you went to school with? Someone you once loved? No? You didn't see them? Not today. Tomorrow you could.

Clicking around his site though, it does look like he wants donations. I'm curious how he could put together a merchandise for support campaign so quickly.
He claims to be broke put apparently he's been financing servers for independent operators. I don't know why he'd do that. I know I'm broke. I wouldn't do it.
In the forums he was talking to people who'd been ripped by Loki Torrent. His attitude seemed to be, "Tough fortune. I sympathize with you, but send me money".
In view of what's happened in the past, I don't understand why he wouldn't arrange fundraising through an independent organization, to assure people they won't get ripped off a second time.
I don't know. I'm going to wait a while to hear more, before I send him my precious 10 bucks for a coffee mug.
Just to make sure I'm correct. He does want financial help, right?
i'll donate the noose for him to hang himself with after he's so saddled with debt after losing his case
i'll use real fancy rope

Yes a legal defense fund has been started and IS controlled by a 3rd party, the MPAA cannot touch any of the money in the defense fund should I lose the case. This is explained on the dvdr-core website. Any money left over after the case, will be given to EFF to help support their work in this area.
However, in light of the Lokitorrent scenario, I have chosen to try and raise the funds through banner clicks rather than personal donations (although there is a paypal address and high street bank account setup to deal with any donations should people wish to send them).
As for the merchandise, it is through cafepress.com and requires no financial outlay whatsoever, they are produced on demand. All I had to do was spend the time creating the products in their design wizard.
I am not financing servers for any independent operators, the dvdr-core site is now on my own server, in the past the servers were paid for by donations from the members.
Hopefully that clears up your questions.
I also want to thank the person who started this thread, whomever they may be.

if u can get me a banner ad or something or a link i will keep it in my signature
If people stop buying DVDs and going to the movies, won't the MPAA hit you guys harder? In Brazil we're safe for now (won't last though)

not spam....i hope this guy has chance........good luck dude
Pimpin is easy
I too believe this may not be just simple "spam"... he's aware of lokitorrent and Ed Webber ripping us all off for starters ("However, in light of the Lokitorrent scenario"...)
And instead of emotionally pleading for money, he's at least offering to give something in return and is just as worried about publicizing the case as he is about raising funds.
