Blocking my IP

My friend got an email from his ISP saying that he was using limewire to much and told him to stop or risk being disconnected from the service. He has now switched back to using bit torrent. Is there anyway i can block my IP address? I would still like to use a P2P client because Bit torrent is so slow ( 2 to 3 kb/s d/l speeds) and would like to mask my IP from those ISP people.

Well your bittorent client just need to be config, port forwading and what not..then your torrents should dl at a higher rate. I wouldn't know about blocking IP address though. My freind was downloading/sharing form bittorrents the movie "hackers" and the ISP caught on to him and sent him a similar e-mail that your friend got....

what you ask is fundamentally impossible, you can't hide your IP from your ISP.

If you want to continue using limewire, you'd probably be better off changing your ISP but thats a load of a hassle so just stop using limewire..!

Using Limewire too much? That sounds fishy to me (fishy as in the ISP, not as in what you're saying)...

What about if you encrypt the transfer stream using security keys similiar to those found in PGP?

Would it then be possible to disguise the nature of the content being exchanged? Hell let's make it simple...say we have an encrypted ftp server with an encrypted ftp client that operate by using security keys to validate with each other....or if we must let's make it even simpler and use waste as our example.

It would seem possible to hide what was being sent and received but still impossible to disguise the amount of bandwidth being used.
