First of all, I've been downloading stuff with Azureus configured the way it is for several months now so I'm pretty sure it's set up correctly. Now then, the problem is that a few days ago it started downloading and uploading slow. It now downloads in bursts of 1.5 KB/s and will sometimes, but very rarely, go over 1.5 by a little bit. I didn't mess with any settings and my internet connection hasn't changed in any way so what could've happened to screw everything up?
Is the health symbol green?
I don't need no stinking signature
We need more information.
1) what type of connection do you have?
2) is it 'always on'?
3) are you behind a router?
4) do you have a firewall?
5) what Operating system are you running?
answer those questions and we might be able to help you better.
I have a satellite connection that is always on. I'm not behind a router. I have Sygate personal firewall but it has never conflicted with Azureus before, and I'm running winXP SP2. Again: this setup worked fine a few days ago.
1) make sure that windows firewall is not on. Windows has a nasty habbit of turning it on when you dont need it.
2) if that isn't the problem, try turning your firewall off temporarily, then trying BT. If that fixes the problem, your firewall needs to be reconfigured.
3) If neither of the above works, try changing ports in Azureus. Don't forget to configure your firewall for this change.
If none of the above work, then somthing has likely changed externally. (ie your ISP has changed somthing, in which case, youll have to work that out with them)
I opened ports 6881-6889 in my firewall. It seems to have increased the upload speeds a little bit, but it still only downloads in brief burts of 1.5 KB/s. I've tried all the ports in azureus, some of them make the health turn yellow but that's about it.
Now it's getting up to 3 KB/s download. Maybe I just need to let it upload some more.
For the love of God, finally someone has the same problem I'm having. I thought I was alone.
I have to computers, one running windows XP sp2 and a ibook (mac) running osx.
BOTH computers only download in 1.5 quick bursts for returning to 0. RARELY I get a quick 3.0, but then its back down. I've bypassed the router completely, taken every step listed in the sticky, complained with the cable company and had them replace my modem completley (to a different brand altogether), but it hasn't fixed the problem. I'm almost convinced its my ISP, but I've changed my port number for Azureus numerous times.
I'm at my wits end, and sorely pissed off. If anyone has ANY help or knowledge in this area, or has had it happened and overcame the problem, PLEASE share.
JL
What about other clients dudes? Do they act the same too?
Hmm... I'll try some others but I doubt that's the problem. We'll see.
ABC will upload but doesn't download. Bittornado and the Experimental client both have problems connecting to peers.
unless the health turns green it sounds like router/firewall issues thenOriginally Posted by Hemonox

The health is green and this firewall hasn't interfered with Azureus before. It's the same problem that joelogic described a couple posts up.
edit: the creative commons tracker is down, link removed...
how many seeds does your torrent have?

I had 6 seeds connected a while ago, but now it's down to 3 and the health is blue because there was a timeout error while trying to connect to the tracker. I think it's worth mentioning that Firefox started getting a lot of timeouts at about the same time that Azureus started having issues. It wouldn't surprise me if they're both symptoms of the same problem. Regular FTP downloads still go fast so I don't think my bandwidth has been limited.
EDIT: now it's back up to 5 seeds.
