I'm in desperate need of some file sharing data so I can finish my thesis. I had the whole thing written in anticipation of data from BigChampagne, but they decided not to share. :(
Ideally someone can provide me with server logs or something similar which shows file-sharing activity over some period of time. Ideally it would track user activity on a network or compare the size of different networks.
I don't care if IP addresses are changed to protect privacy, but I would like to know where (what country) people are from.
I'm admittedly quite desperate at this point and am willing to pay $500 and up for your trouble. Send me an e-mail at "[email protected]" if you have something along these lines...
Thanks.

People standin on top of the white house, there's people standin up on capital hill...
They stand up there, sound like they know something...
They all still wake up in the morning, drink a cup of coffee and take a shit, they aint better than I am.
And they dance around a problem... say this... talk about the eco-nomic imp-li-cations...
But their grandfather, great great grandfather, was just like my great great grandfather, just a bunch of monkeys swingin up in trees shittin in the woods.
sike... :hi

No, I am not from the RIAA... Of course not. Although I have no idea how I could convince you of that.
I recognize that there is a lot of paranoia out there, and for good reason. I should never have tackled this topic to begin with, but here I am...
Again, I don't care how this data is scrambled to protect the innocent, as long as there is something I can take away, write up, and get a grade on.
Incidentally this is the sort of thing I'm aspiring for:

Its a much better read than anything I'm going to come up with, I have to say!
Your right, you did pick the wrong topic. Are you going to school at unc? If so why don't you use their data. A computer or computers at unc constantly scans p2p networks. I myself recieved many hits on my blocklists from unc while using more public p2p like kazaa. I havent used that in like a year so i don't know if it's going on still. At any rate, you'll have a hard time getting detailed info like that.

No, Stownplayer, I don't go to UNC. (I go to Columbia.) I wonder if the same guys who wrote that paper are behind what you are describing...
Anyway, thanks for listening.
I wish you luck on your thesis, don't mind some of the people here, they have a tendency to be skeptical.
We have a good thing going here. We need p2p file sharing in this day and age, when the smallest of software packages can cost in the thousands. And you either pay it or live without it. Its bull$$$$! We are skeptical because we want to protect what we have. The only way software, movies, and songs get to p2p is that someone paid for it, and was nice enough to let others have it. I for one protect p2p at all costs. God bless all those who appreciate what has been accomplished.
