hmm if alot of files got corrupted then your either looking at a bad disk or a virus either way you have to run an antivirus scan , spyware scan , disk check , maybe defragment

if all checks out to be clear then .......
i don't know,, but you won't lose anything if you do whats stated above

I would also suggest running a program called memtest. http://www.memtest86.com/

It will check your memory for errors. If you run a full test or two and get errors, post back with some system info, or be prepared to RMA some RAM. Bad RAM is a very common cause of data corruption (but so are hard drives). If your RAM checks out I'll find you a program to check the disk for S.M.A.R.T. errors.

Is a cd .iso (image) that should be able to scan for errors on your drive. It boots outside of windows.

Alternatively you can install a program like SpeedFan http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail...an/985582286/1 that will tell you a bunch of info about your entire system. Including S.M.A.R.T. monitoring.

okay i just ran the ram test recommend by Phalkon30, and it turns out one of my ram stick was bad... so after replacing it with a backup lets see how it goes. I just installed one rar file which wasn't working in the past... so maybe it did solve the problem... i am to sure though thank you for you help Phalkon30 that program you recommneded for mem test really helped me out.

Glad I could help, too bad it turned out to be faulty hardware :(

There is a chance you can save the chip of RAM by running higher voltages, slower speeds, looser timings, or all of the above (which would decrease performance). But if you can get a replacement for your RAM it would be much better. There is no garuntee that playing with settings would fix the errors, and the chip will most likely fail at a later date anyway.

Memtest86 is one of my favorite programs lately. Its the first diagnostic tool I turn to when someone has a computer problem. Since pretty much all your data will pass through the RAM at some point, its a good idea to test it anyway, you may be getting corruption and not even know it!
