Does anybody know of a Japanese file-sharing program?

I once had a Japanese file sharing program... I think it's Winny, but I'm not sure. I just remember that you could find there a lot of anime using it, be it licensed or rare. There were a lot of peers also... Is it Winny, or is there any Japanese file sharing program you might know of? If you know of any Japanese P2P program, please reply accordingly. Thanks in advance.

The only one I know of is Winny, however, it is said that Winny is the #2 file sharing client in Japan (and I don't know numero uno).

here in germany no.1 is edonkey,no.2 is limewire...but I never heard of winny!

Share is the new program based on the open source Winny code that the Japanese are using since developement on Winny stopped.

Christoph, no the Japanese don't use the same programs as the rest of us. They have much stricker laws about file sharing then anywhere else so they mainly use anonymous programs like Winny and Share. Since the author of Winny was arrested for contributing to copy right theft, Share is slowly replacing Winny.

i d/l shareaza7.1 once(yes, 7.1) it had something to do with bt86. i also did a thread on zeropaid reagrding this, u can search for the thread titled "shareaza 7.1", actually wot i thnk it was, was some tweaked version of shareaza to work better for bittorrent d/ls coz once i connected to a client with shareaza7.1 with 3000 nodes instead of the usual 300, that is actually from whre my search started and i landed up on a japanese site. so now i use shareaza7.1, but to me it looks the same only difference is in the splash screen at the starting of the shareaza7.1, otherwise it looks and works the same, no speed difference also.

yeah, Winney is number 1 in Japan. I believe that in Japan the law is even more strict against p2p and copyright enfridgement, so to them security is higher up on the priority list.

Winny provides a level of denyability through "filecaching" Esentialy what ever is in your share directory is randomly uploaded and saved on other winney nodes. So when a person starts downloading a file they are getting peices from all over the place. No one has knowledge of what is secretly saved on thier hardrive, hence the denyability. Winey does also make direct connections, but no one can be certain when a direct connection has been made (so far). Wnney tends to be faster then ants or mute due to the fact that direct connections are more often made.

In my opinon "file caching" anonymous design is less secure then "ad-hoc" design (ad-hoc is ants and mute) however, I believe that "filecaching" is good enough to give denyability in a U.S. court.

If you're looking for japanese music, I personally grab all my jpop off of the edonkey network - I've been able to find album wraps for just about all the albums I've been looking for. Otherwise, check out newgroups - alt.binaries.sounds.jpop is completely dedicated to jpop music.
