the better company?

first things first, this is not an arguement about whats better, the pc or the mac. but rather who is the better company.

things to consider are ethics, marketing, strategy and direction.

it'd also be nice if you guys not only voted but also discussed why you think that [insert vote here] is the better company.

personally i think it's apple because without them microsoft would never try making a "better" operating system. they were also the ones to put the keyboard where it's supposed to be on laptops. plus they make their own hardware and software, now that's dedication!

Loaded question. Better in which way service or performance or success?

Well obviously not success as then the answers would be very one-sided.

I'd say performance as in making reliable, strong, products.

And service as in making sure the customer is helped.

Plus the other things I listed.

Well hell I voted microsoft just because of the products and prices in comparison and the amount of available options.

But in truth that is a very tuff question when you talk about ethics apple would probably be a bit better but apple aint no idiot as well they know that there is profit to gain from the so called piracy of downloading music and movies as well...

You really dont think the firewire port was invented because they were just thinking about there law biding citizens and nothing else. And you cant really think that apple dosent make the IPOD as a way to profit off of cheaply distributed content. In the back of all of this computer and equipment manufactures are well aware that in order to achive profit potential you have to look at the dirty business as well.

But microsoft just took it a step further and has an actual pirated OS by being scandalous Mr. Gates legally scammed apple out of enourmous profit pontential but the question is where would Apple be right now hadn't it been for microsoft stealing there OS and where would technology be as well without knowing the grey or black markets. One can only hypothasize really.

Now if you were to add Mandrake Linux to the Poll I woulda said mandrake but lets face it once something becomes a good thing and remains a good thing for so long then they flip it on you once they got you hooked they jack the prices. Its business if microsoft wouldnt have done it someone else would have not that it justifies anything.

Another downfall Mr. Gates has is that he has a good habit of forgetting where he came from with all the implimentations of DRM and trying to protect his operating system from being pirated at all costs and any means nessacary. This is not good business really it almost seems that people that make these adventures usually end up losing value. Piracy is also an enourmous forum of advertisement and these companies understand that as well. Most people understand in business the repetition of seeing or hearing about something force fed in an indescrete manner it will provide a base of consumers as many people mimic what they see and buy what they see other people having. This goes on in every market. Take a box of cereal for example you'll notice how some boxes of cereal have put entertainment media such as sponge bob or something on that order printed on the box or even design a new cereal with him. They have already repititously suggested this product with little or no marketing... Every little kid in the US knows who sponge bob is they are not stupid they know by placing it on a box for the intended audiance that they will achive more sales.

As adults many of us dont realize that while our tastes our differnt they do similar things in many differnt forms and manners to attract us to certain sales as well. The consumers mind dont change for the most part just the taste.

But these are all things that aint discussed publically but are known privately. And as private as microsoft and apple try to be it is obvious to me they both have there dirty sides.

Microsoft has just took it to higher extremes and has done more and more of it is obvious as more folks run windows and microsoft products then apple.
