    Music Videos?

Is it considered to be illegal to download a music video there is no real place to purchase them and such you would think that the swapping of music videos would be relitively legal or somewhere in the grey area...

Just kinda wondered any one with input on this feel free to comment.

I think it it falls under the same catagory of TV shows that don't make it to dvds. They technically are still the property of media outlet that shows them like MTV or VH1 or such.

Since its inception almost 30 years ago, the internet has been transformed from a primitive device for sharing thoughts and ideas, into a massive network where people pay to connect and read advertisements they don't want, while calling each other "asshats".

Since most of the artist/labels have to PAY big bucks to get airplay, most are OK with it.
in fact most artist have music videos to download if you check their website.

Most websites that have music video downloads, videopimp, antipopvideos ect ect...
have a place to copyright holders can use to have their content removed.
in fact some artists owe their "big break" to the sharing of their content on p2p

i do agree with you. although that means it's illegal to download the audio version of a song that has an acompanying music video, yet ok to collect their music videos and play them on winamp for the audio

I'm sure it is. However, you can buy some videos and there have been some great collections released already.

Pantera-The Best of Pantera: Far Beyond the Great Southern Cowboy's Vulgar Hits (CD & DVD)
Rob Zombie-Past, Present & Future (CD & DVD)
Stone Temple Pilots-Thank You (CD & DVD)
Live-Awake: The Best of Live (CD & DVD)
    U2-Best of 1990-2000 (DVD)
Def Leppard-Visualize / Video Archive (DVD)
Alice in Chains-Music Bank - The Videos (DVD)
Dave Matthews Band-The Videos 1994-2001 (DVD)
Journey-Greatest Hits DVD 1978-1997 - Music Videos & Live Performances (DVD)
Guns N' Roses-Welcome to the Videos (DVD)
    Peter Gabriel-Play: The Videos (DVD)
DMX-Make it or Break it Videos: The Best of DMX (DVD)
    Nickelback-Nickelback: The Videos (DVD)
Tesla-Time's Makin' Changes: The Videos & More (DVD)

There's probably more. But these are some that grabbed my attention. Look around you never know. If you can't find them for sale, you can download them. I would recommend IRC. Good luck!

IF you download and trade enough music videos. THey will come after you. Believe it or not, anyone playing a video has to pay royalties. Which thats why so many reality shows exist on music channels. I Do like VH1 Classics and the Fuse.
