Reading a thread saying that only 35 people in the Ants network? The whole network? Or I get it wrong?
Wow.. that many?? dang, nearly doubled in a year.
There is no crawler on ANts p2p to measure number of users.Originally Posted by xrobot

And as ANts now uses web cache to bootstrap the number in irc ishardly representative of the total numbers on network.

Nevertheless - do not get the idea that there are many more - shawners is right, we used to be half of that when pretty much everyone was on IRC. The network will grow slowly, just like MUTE did, and then plateau until something happens to make it more attractive. That could be a speeding up data exchange, but how much is debateable as proxying is always going to be slow and the developer is pushing hard at the edges of invention already. The most likely event is that the R*** or M*** win a case or two and there is a migration to anonymous networks.
See ANts and MUTE as the slow but steady tortoise in the race, they do bring in files, and yes it would be nice to have more choice of files, but they do not rush in as they do on most p2p apps.
Best regards
Chris
Before we switched form web cache to bootstrap there was a record of 84 users in the irc.

For me Mute/Ants are just as fast DL/UL as eDonkey/eMule.
