    Question another round of questions

ok i have a new set of questions.

first of all i just wanna say i appreciate everyones help that has responded to my posts around here lately and i am learning fast.

    anyways here goes.

i've been downloading a bunch of movies which i plan to burn to disc when i'm finished.

so my first question is it better to burn these movies i'm downloading to vcd or svcd if i want them to play in my home dvd player?

next question any of my movies that are in mpeg format i can immediately make into a vcd/ svcd with nero right? it's only the avi's and xvid's i have to convert to mpeg in order to do the same right?

now from what i understand mpeg 1 is vcd and mpeg 2 is svcd so if i downloaded a movie that is in mpeg 1 format i'll want to burn that as a vcd with nero? or can i also burn that as a svcd?

also i love the convenience of these torrent search engines like isohunt and torrentspy is there any other ones out there just as good i should try?

lastly i think i've got everything under control up till i start trying to convert some of these movies if i get into trouble is there anybody that would be willing to help me if i do?

    thanks again

Nero can convert Mpeg2 to DVDs with Nero Digital audio (compatible to Dolby Digital) also. Mpeg2 is not just for SVCD format. Not all DVD Players can play SVCD, so make sure it does!

There are also lots of other programs to help you convert DivX & XviD movies to VCD/SVCD/DVD formats!

Go to http://www.doom9.org/ & check out user guides on those programs!

The golden rule is never NEVER reencode a file a second time. You loose quality. Divx encoded files will play on stand alone hardware, skip all of the other codecs, and use mp3 and divx. In 20 years from now there will still be divx and mp3 players.

I like Xvid over divx 5, but Xvid does not play on my DVD standalone player yet.
Is it not a feat sublime? Intellect hath conquered time.

I agree with Afn, don't reencode - your output will be a lot less than what you started with. If you've got mpgs, yes, use Nero to make a VCD, but for your .avi's I'd either:
    1. Connect your puter to your TV via svideo, play on puter, watch on TV
    2. Get a player that handles .avi's

Different standalones play different things... my box plays all XViDs, but can't play anything with QPEL and some versions of AC3 audio choke if they're not interleaved properly.

i think i need to clarify what i'm trying to do here. guys i'm going to be selling these at my work which is why i need them to be able to play on people's home dvd players. so i need to know how to get all the movies i downloaded onto disc. i just checked them and most are in bin and cue format and mpeg which i'm pretty sure i know how to get onto disc using nero. it's the movies that are in xvid, and xvid lite, that i need to know how to get onto disc so they'll play on peoples home dvd players.

so how do i do that? xvid movies do need to be converted in order to play on a cd-r in someones dvd player right?

    any help would be appreciated.

whups, you just unmade a few friends.

People who sell the stuff they downloaded for free are pretty scummy in my book. You should be giving them away.
