    Resolution Problem!!!

I have a very old Philips 104S Monitor which supports resolutions only
between 640x480 and 800x600. I have the game EA Sports NHL 2003. Previously
it didn't work on my computer because the game by default used to run in
1024x768 resolution. I tried many a times to change the settings from the
registry, but in vain. 3 days back, I formatted my PC and re-installed
Win98. I installed NHL 2003 and gave it a try. My screen resolution was
800x600. I started the game and by default it ran in 640x480. This time I
was able to see whatever was there on the but because of my screen
resolution somethings were hidden. I mean to say that some things went out
of focus, like to quit button which was there on the top most right hand
side corner, was not seen. I hope you understand. Then I restarted the
computer and in regedit, I went to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\EA
Sports\NHL 2003 and there in Thrash resoulution I changed it from 640x480
to 800x600. Then I ran the game. Again the same old problem. It ran at
1024x768. I again came to desktop. Changed the Thrash resolution to 640x480
and then changed my screen resolution to 640x480 and then ran the game. I
faced the same problem once again. I uninstalled and installed it several
times. But the same thing happened again. I desperately want to play this
    game. What do I do?

I hate to suggest this, but it looks like it's time to get a new monitor.
Flat panels are at a alltime low, so a crt should be very cheap.
