    Major Download And Speed Problems

Ok got a few questions here that I'd please like answered. First off I have
    Shareaza 2.1.0.0
    Windows XP Home Edition SP2
    I have a 512 connection
And my internet connect is through a router. I have configured my router and firewall to allow Shareaza and have run the connection test and everything was fine. I have used the SP2 patch to edit my connection limit to 100. So I think I have all that right.

But my download speeds are terrible they are best at 10-50kb/s (is that normal) for a download although they sometimes average a about under 1kb/s my uploads seem to have reasonable speeds. But for the past couple of days I can't download any large files like movies (around 700-800MB). Everything I am currently downloading has enough hosts but they don't seem to be going anywhere (maybe the odd 0.5% now and then) I have a download as well that has been stuck on 99.59% for the days and just says pending. So can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong and why are my download speeds so slow?

you should also change some values in shareaza advanced settings (view->power mode).
Go to tools-> shareaza settings-> advanced and configure

Once this patch has been applied, the SP2 limits should be removed.
It would then be safe to modify some advanced settings in Shareaza to reflect this:
Downloads.MaxConnectingSources can be set to 20. (This is the most important change)

Gnutella.ConnectFactor can be increased to 4 or 5 to improve connect speed. (Modem or low bandwidth users may want to keep it at 3)

Downloads.ConnectThrottle should be set to 250 - 500, depending on your connection. (If you router regualarly gives you trouble, you might want to increase this.)

Downloads.MaxFileSearches should be set between 1 and 4. (1 for low bandwidth users, 3 for high.)

Sharezaa behind a router or not 50k for a file download speed is cookin right along.

The trick is when using this nework is to allow multiple file downloads to max out your bandwidth so instead of downloading 1 file at a time download a few at a time. This will ensure that your bandwidth gets used to a maximum potential. Also be sure to share all your files on the network the more folks sharing files the more sources and the better the download rates.

Its basic P2P economics really sometimes though you may have massive sources for one certain file the users who are sources are many times the people sharing multiple files and are already uploading differnt files to other users which in turn is maxing out there alloted upload bandwidth so on these types of networks to get the full potential out of them download multiple files to ensure that you use your bandwidth downstream. If you are maxing your bandwidth weather downloading one file or multiple files you are operating at maximum which is going to ensure you the same relative download times though you wont aquire single files as fast when you look at the overall picture you will be aquiring your files as a whole just as fast.
