    CD Burners

From what I've read on them, you've got to look at speed and price, they all have buffer under runs protection (whatever a buffer underrun is, anyone?). Get yourself a big direct mail supplier, these are the cheapest - big factory, no store overheads.

You should get 40 read, 40 write, 12rw, which is bloody fast, (Audio CD in a minute), for $150, and still have enough for the $12 delivery.

    cd burner

liteon and plexter are considered the best.

There was a article I read that indicated faster burners were having problems with the fact that the media being produced was not acceptable. (blank discs are not being made good enough for faster speeds)

yamaha also has a new burner that burns text onto your cd's so you can label them with titles.

a buffer underrun is where your computer can't supply the burner with data fast enough, the cache runs out and *poof*

    this can happen because
a)your cd burner is improperly configured
    b)your processor is too slow
    c)low quality discs
d)running too much junk in the background

on my first cd burners i saw this a lot....they have improved a lot since then

    Trouble is..

I only ever see 24X CD-R's for sale, and more usuually 16. Personally, with buffer under run sorted, what's a minute matter, when you can leave it on and surf. Go for a 24X write, or 32X write and buy a 100 blanks with the diff. Maybe I'll get a 48X write (instead of 24X) when I start seeing some 48 disks for 25 pennies

I love my TDK VeloCD 32*10*40 drive. It is much better than my old Creative drive. This thing installed in like 3 minutes and hasnt failed me since I installed(June).

I'll stick to my old ass sony an creative 8X's LOL 9 minutes an I have a good CD why do I need a drive that burns shitty quality CD's in 1 minute when I can waste 8 more doing nothing an have a CD that doesn't skip after 6 scratchs. As for a new drive, pick up a cheap ass norcent www.norcent.com there 32X burner is 50 bucks an there 40X or 48X drive is 55 bucks may be cheaper on there site then in store though. It work's I've had it burn CD after CD for bout 6 hours didn't get hot hasn't failed yet. Burns at 4X up to the 32X So if you want safer disk's lower the speed, comes with Nero an it works decent. But I'm sticking to my old ass built to take a beating drives LOL That rebaged 8X plexor I have has been dropped many times an it still works. Plus the drive is fucking heavy for a internal drive. Also have a 4X techninc's CDRW external. Heavy has shit an tough. I can pull it out of the case an hook it up like a normal internal as well.
