Actually, the subjects a bit of a lie, I can connect with KLR. But no other I've tried. Here's the situation: I have two computers on a wired dynex router, which is connected to the internet through wireless broadband. One computer works fine, its connected to the first jack, the other one, in the second jack, doesn't. It was the first time I've tried using a filesharing app since I got the router over a month ago, so I can't be sure if its the router or something else that's changed on the computer. I ran the router config wizard, and set the problem computer to dmz, but this didn't help. I tried finding what was different between the two computers, and the only thing I could find was that the good one was set to hybrid for its nodetype, and the other said unknown. I fixed this so they are now both hybrid. Didn't help. Here are the programs I've tried and the results:
Bearshare: Connects to two ultrapeers right away, but I can't get any search results, after a couple of minutes they go away, and it can't connect to any more, all just timeouts and refused.
Shareaza: Like Bearshare, only won't even connect to the first two.
KLR: Wouldn't connect at first, but I ran the router config wizard, an now its fine.
Ares: Just doesn't connect.
Another issue is that before I got the second computer I had the line from the modem going directly into computer, and it worked fine, now I try that again to determine if the problem is in the router, and it refuses to connect.
Both PCs are running Windows XP SP2.
try to reset your dsl router, and leave it to defaults and then get a guide to forward your ports.
google forwarding ports + p2p related
Thanks for the quick response, but I have already tried port forwarding with no luck. Also, with DMZ enabled, this shouldn't even be nessicary. I found a thread here on these forums of someone with the same router, and the same problems, so maybe it's just a junk router.
Try setting your firewall settings to accept the filesharing program you are using. Mine worked onVerizon DSL with Limewire! Gostan
u checked to see if u have a software firewall
