Stupid Question (i.e. my first post here)....

So I successfully downloaded a movie via Bittorrent, and actually figured out how to play it. However, at a lot of points during the movie, the video would basically pause, while the audio would keep going. Then the video would eventually kick back in at whatever point the audio was at. Does anyone know how to solve this issue? I did a lot of searching for it, but couldn't find anything. Thanks in advance.

First hello and welcome, and it is not a stupid question. Now your question; there just maybe a slight coruption in the file you downloaded. I have had this problem to as wells as having the video go crazy and return to normal. Stop and go video can some times be fixed by just defraging your computer especial if you have down loaded a large video file.
I auto defragment my system once a week to keep the system in good shape, but if I have dowloaded a lot of audio and video files I will do it when I have finshed the downloades. Hope this helps, and again welcome.

Thanks for the reply. I did a check on the file yesteday with some software I downloaded, so I don't think it is corrupt. But I haven't defragged in a while, so that might be it. Thanks for the response...

Hey, welcome to zeropaid man! I know what its like to be a newbie, cos I am, but dont worry, everyone here is as cool as running butt naked in the snow! anyway your problem has only two reasons really! either the video is corrupted a bit (lets hope not) or there are too many processes running and all the processor time is being eaten up by them! videos, for good viewing, just like playing a dvd need good processor time! try end a few temporarily and see if it helps! peace!!

Processor speed and lots of stuff running in the background will cause this issue.

Spyware and other programs may be bloating your system it is always good to have a good amount of ram as well.

The only stupid question is the one not asked.
    Welcome.
    Dump your trash.
    Check for Spyware.
    Defrag.
Close any applications running that you are not currently using.

Defrag is the most likely solution. If you have multiple hard drives or partitions them move the downloaded file to another space. Or, just defrag.

Also try viewing this in another player, this is a common symptom of avi files, try the BSPlayer, or VLM instead of WMP.

Also, and I shouldnt have to say this, but dont try to play an avi on a fragmented hard drive, while DOWNLOADING. P2P apps can suck up he cpu time. Use Task Manager to see whats going on.

If that fails try installing ffdshow alpha http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow/

That fixed issues I was having related with Xvid.

If you have a cheapo video card (Integrated), try lowering the resolution before playing the movie.
