i go to a university that bans IRC file trasfers, so i am looking into using a proxy to forward the files to me. i have never used a proxy and would like to know how to set one up. could someone please post how i would go about doing this, or post a link to a website to find out info on doing this. thanks much.
Heres one site

according to the mirc website, you can't use dcc through an HTTP proxy, which is what most open ones on proxy4free, etc are.
yeah IRC proxy ports for one would have to be high annomity and 6667 - 6669 in most cases I dunno I never was able to get an IRC proxy to work because they constantly scan for proxys and have uber updated listings for proxies to prevent security threats but I know they are out there and people use them... Theres a way to do it I know ANTSP2P is pretty annoymous and you could basically host and download files using that network...
Problem is anytime you download constantly and you take up lots of bandwidth on the node they really check into your habbits the LAN and such things that would help is possible renamed encrypted files with axcrypt you just need to figure er out man theres ways to proxy with IRC I dunno what good it would do as far as transfers but ... there are things like SUMI and stuff like that that spoofs upload packets... UDP ports look into SUMI on sourceforge.
