    Possible Memory RAM Problems????

For about a month now, anytime i open up more than one program at a time, I get a blue screen saying something about driver not equal or less. Then it tells me to uninstall any new hardware or software that may have caused the problem. I have tried to reformat the pc but it didnt help it. Its a Dell 8300 running XP home with 512mb ddr330 ram, and 120gb HD.

Your not the only one having troubles the latest graphics driver updates from NVIDIA are causing blue screen problems...

Some also say it has something to do with DEP as well (Data Execution Protection)...

    Some things to do:

Do scans for spyware and viruses roll back any updated drivers make sure your brand names on your ram are the same as it is illegal in 12 US states to have differnt brand names of ram and its for a good reason... Other things that could cause issues if you overclock your PC in some way that could be giving you an issue even if not restart and hit F8 check out your CPU temperature then if all else fails it could be IRQ issues or your powersupply might be biting the dust as well it could be a lot of things but I would troubleshoot these things first...

i've had absolutely no problems with the latest WHQL nvidia drivers...you might try those if you're not using them already.

make sure all your other drivers are also up to date, preferably the latest WHQLs if available.

i'd also run a memory test.

@infringer: there's nothing wrong with running multiple brands of memory in a computer. it's usually a good idea to have brands with good reputations, and ideal to have the same brand...but certainly not OMFG WTF R U DOING?!-worthy.

I too have differnt brands of ram in my PC...

I was just specifing that this could be a case because I have heard of many claims and read quite a few articles about using differnt brands of ram and how it could cause issues.

But in any case it is true I have never had a problem as well.

I have some Kingston and some PNY in my PC right now...
